Partially-Funded PhD Scholarship in Materials Science & Engineering

Department of Materials Science & Engineering at Jimma University in collaborations with research partners in the United States and Europe accepts applications for PhD studentship. The program is divided to two parts; the first part is fully funded, but there is no secure funding for the second part (though it is possible).

Part I (based in Jimma University, Ethiopia) The coursework is based on the Department of Materials Science & Engineering at Jimma University. The present scholarship covers all tuition fees and offer TA for students to provide a modest salary.

Part II (based in the United States or Europe, depending on the project subject) After finishing the coursework, students will stay in one of our partner research groups in European Union or United States to conduct their academic projects. There is no secure funding to cover the living expenses, but it is possible to arrange TA in the host university.


☑ A master degree in materials science, chemistry, chemical engineering or a closely related topic.
☑ Excellent English skills both in communication and writing
☑ Experience of world-class research and good record of publications are main factors for selection.
☑ Excellent experimental skills
