Assistant/Associate Professor of Mathematics

The Department of Mathematics at Hofstra University invites applications for an anticipated full-time, tenure-track position as an Assistant or Associate Professor of Mathematics, beginning Fall 2014. Strong preference will be given to candidates with expertise in probability or statistics. If no such qualified candidate is found, consideration may be given to exceptional candidates in other areas.

The successful candidate must possess a firm commitment to both undergraduate teaching and continued scholarly activity. Duties of the position include teaching at all levels of the undergraduate curriculum, including upper-division courses in probability and statistics, and advising students in our Actuarial Science specialization. The teaching load is 9 hours per semester. Supervision of undergraduate research is also expected. Candidates should hold or expect to receive a Ph.D. in mathematics, statistics, or a closely allied discipline, by August 2014.
