Assistant or Associate Professor, Department of Applied Mathematics and Statistics

The Department of Applied Mathematics and Statistics at the Colorado School of Mines invites
applications for an anticipated position in applied statistics at the rank of Assistant or Associate
Professor beginning in fall 2014. Applicants in any area of applied statistics will be considered,
with preference given to those with expertise in applications of spatial/spatio-temporal statistics.
The Department of Applied Mathematics and Statistics offers Bachelor's, Master's, and Ph.D.
degrees in Statistics as well as in Computational and Applied Mathematics.

Qualifications

An earned Ph.D. in statistics, mathematics, or a closely related field, and a
record of or demonstrated potential for excellence in research and teaching. A research focus
related to applied statistics with emphasis on spatial/spatio-temporal statistics is desired.
Evidence of interest, or successful involvement, in interdisciplinary collaborative research is
desired. Applicants must provide evidence of research accomplishments and teaching
competence in statistics. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required.

• At the rank of Assistant Professor, applicants must possess a PhD degree in statistics,
mathematics, or a closely related field and demonstrated potential for success in
teaching, scholarship and service.

• At the rank of Associate Professor, applicants must possess a PhD degree in statistics,
mathematics, or a closely related field; demonstrated success in teaching, scholarship
and service; and the demonstrated potential for national and international professional
recognition.
