Director, DevelopmentThe Director of Development will plan, organize and execute a comprehensive major gift plan for the Driehaus College of Business. The Director's primary charge is to focus on identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gift prospects and donors. In addition to financial goals, the Director will meet specific process targets designed to assure a disciplined approach to building a successful major gift program. The Director will also work with shared support staff. The Director will report to and is evaluated by the Senior Director of Business with substantial input from the Dean. The Director is a member of the Deans' Advancement team and a member of the Development Office's major gifts staff. He/she is based at the central University Advancement office. Additionally, the Director of Development will maintain a fund-raising portfolio.
5-7 years of increasingly responsible experience as a professional fund-raiser focused on cultivating and soliciting individual prospects.
Experience in recruiting and staffing high-level volunteers.
Experience in supervising development staff members.
Appreciation of the role of all advancement areas; development, alumni relations, public relations, marketing, and admissions and an ability to work successfully with colleagues in all five areas.
Awareness and understanding of the value of an education grounded in the liberal arts.
Enthusiasm, drive, motivational ability, willingness to take calculated risks, and competitive spirit.
Ability to develop long-term plans and execute those plans on an annual basis.
Ability to travel and work occasional evening and weekend hours for events and donor meetings, as required.
