Assistant Professor, Tenure-track. Department Of Chemistry

Excellence in research and teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate level is
expected. The ideal candidate will be able to teach courses in biochemistry as well as
selected courses in either physical chemistry or organic chemistry. Teaching duties may
include upper division undergraduate lecture and laboratory courses, and graduate lecture
courses. Some teaching in general and/or introductory chemistry may be required. The
successful candidate will develop a robust research program engaging primarily
undergraduate and graduate (M.S.) students. Candidate must address the needs of a
student population of great diversity – in age, cultural background, ethnicity, primary
language, and academic preparation – through course materials, teaching strategies, and


Ph.D. in chemistry, biochemistry, or the equivalent is required, and postdoctoral
experience is preferred. Applicants should have awareness of and sensitivity to the
educational goals of a multicultural population as might have been gained in cross-
cultural study, training, teaching, and other comparable experience.
