Chair And Professor Engineering

The University of Texas at El Paso invites applications and nominations for the position of Chair and Professor of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (MME). This is a twelve-month appointment with a projected starting date of September 1, 2014.
The Chair will lead the MME department toward achieving UTEP’s goal of being the nation’s first national research university with a 21st-century student demographic. The chair supervises the MME faculty and staff and reports to the Dean of Engineering. The primary responsibilities of the Chair are to provide visionary leadership; to encourage excellence and innovation in teaching, research and service; to advance professional development of the faculty and staff; and to promote productive relationships with students, alumni, industry, and governmental agencies. The well-qualified candidate will have demonstrated successful administrative skills, a perspective that balances research and teaching, and the ability to lead a faculty representing a range of metals/materials interests.


The successful candidate will possess an earned doctorate in Metallurgical Engineering or Materials Science and Engineering or related discipline, with a record of teaching, research, service, and leadership commensurate with a tenured appointment at the level of professor.
