Assistant Professor Department Of Statistics

The Department of Statistics at the University of Manitoba invites applications for one tenure-track position (#15835) at the rank of Assistant Professor. The appointment will begin on January 1 or July 1, 2014, or on a mutually agreed upon date. The Department is seeking an individual with expertise inenvironmental statistics.Candidates must have a strong research program in environmental statistics, supported by innovative statistical theory. Proficiency with modern statistical methodologies used in the field of environmental statistics is essential, including for instance, spatial statistics, stochasticprocesses and differential equations, Bayesian methods, and computational statistics. Candidates with strong records of collaboration with researchers in environmental sciences are particularly encouraged to apply


To be successful, a candidate must have a Ph.D. degree in statistics or a related discipline (or a Ph.D. degree to be completed by the starting date) and have a strong record or outstanding promise in both research and teaching. Duties will include research, undergraduate and graduate teaching, student supervision, and service-related activities.
