Endowed Calhoun Chair Professorship, School Of Biomedical Engineering Science & Health Systems

The School of Biomedical Engineering, Science, and Health Systems at Drexel University invites nominations and applications for the Endowed Calhoun Chair Professorship in Biomedical Engineering and Biomedical Science at associate and full professor ranks.

The academic thrust areas of the School are Bioinformatics, Cellular and Tissue Engineering, and Neuroengineering. These focus areas are built on the historical strengths of the faculty in Biosensors, Biomedical Imaging, Biomechanics and Human Performance, enabled by our core competences in Biomedical Ultrasound, Biomedical Optics and Bionanotechnology. The School forged outstanding collaborations and joint programs with many academic units of the university, in particular, College of Medicine, College of Engineering, and College of Arts and Sciences. Extensive collaborations with regional universities, research institutes, hospitals and industries have also been developed. The School's faculty are also engaged in global academic and innovation partnerships in China, Europe, Israel and Turkey.


Candidates holding a PhD Degree in Biomedical Engineering, or equivalent in related discipline, and hold a tenured position in a prominent academic institution, and who have demonstrated national and international leadership at the frontiers of Biomedical Engineering are encouraged to apply. Candidates who have demonstrated exceptional competence in teaching, research and service to the biomedical engineering profession, with a track record of funded research excellence in tissue and regenerative bioengineering, neuro-engineering, biomedical sensing and imaging and bioinformatics are invited to apply. Applicants must demonstrate evidence attesting to their commitment to lead interdisciplinary research teams, network with partners in order to build new university-level initiatives, and expand upon existing programs.
