Assistant, Associate Or Full Professor Chemical And Life Science EngineeringApplications and nominations are being sought for multiple tenure-track or tenured full-time faculty positions at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level in the Chemical and Life Science Engineering (CLSE) Department at Virginia Commonwealth University. Research areas are open, but particular interests include energy-related fields (catalysis, electrochemical processes), pharmaceutical engineering, and materials science.
The CLSE Department is an ABET accredited program offering BS, MS, and PhD degrees with scholarly achievement in the areas of cellular engineering, molecular therapeutics, nanotechnology, advanced polymeric materials, and supercritical fluids (http://www.egr.vcu.edu/departments-centers/chemical-life-science-engineering/). The CLSE Department is housed in the School of Engineering at VCU, which was established by the VCU School of Engineering Foundation and is comprised of 8 full-time faculty, 160 undergraduate students, and 30 graduate students. The School of Engineering will double its faculty over the next five years. Facilities include the Institute for Engineering and Medicine, the Translational Research Innovation Projects Center, and the Nanotechnology Characterization Center housing advanced instrumentation. Collaborations exist with VCU Life Sciences, the Rice Institute for Environmental Life Sciences, and the Schools of Medicine, Pharmacy, and Dentistry at VCU. QualificationsQualified candidates must have earned a PhD and have at least one degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline. For junior level faculty (Assistant), candidate will be required to have an established research agenda and a clear potential for external funding, as appropriate, and potential for scholarship or creative expression to complement and expand existing expertise in the department. For senior level faculty (Associate/Professor), applicant will be required to have a well-developed scholarly/research portfolio with evidence of multi-disciplinary applications and external funding appropriate to complement and expand existing expertise in the department. Candidates must desire to actively participate in creating and nurturing a highly collaborative, creative, innovative, and entrepreneurial culture. The successful candidate must have demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU. Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications.
