Vice-president ResearchThe current term of Vice-President Research Howard Brunt ends on June 30, 2014, at which time he intends to step down, having provided seven years of leadership in that capacity.
The search for his successor will be conducted in accordance with the Procedures for the Appointment and Review of the Vice-President Research at the University of Victoria
QualificationsThe ideal candidate will be an innovative and strategic leader attracted to a culture of collegiality
and openness. She or he will have demonstrated exceptional organizational and interpersonal
abilities, and will be creative, responsive, nimble and keen to work with a strong leadership
team. A proven record of achievement as an administrator, an understanding of the higher
education environment, and a distinguished record of achievement related to research, along
with a knowledge of how to obtain support for research will be required.
Moreover, the Vice-President Research will possess a sophisticated understanding of the
relationships among research, scholarship and creative activity and knowledge mobilization,
and will have the ability to move quickly, seize opportunities and adapt to changing
circumstances while continuing to move forward. Those without extensive academic experience
but with otherwise appropriate expertise and a track record of outstanding support for research,
scholarship and creative activities will be considered.
