The George Mason University, College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) invites applications for the position of Associate Dean for Research. This position is in the college and reports to the Dean, and works closely with departments and programs in issues related to research. The Associate Dean also represents the college on various university committees to facilitate research.
Doctoral degree with qualifications equivalent to appointment as an Associate Professor in an academic department, preferably in a CHSS discipline, and interest in college academic administration;
Substantial grant Principal Investigator history, both past and current;
Substantial grant history with various funding sources;
Proven record of strong analytical, organizational and administrative skills;
Prior experience interpreting and applying academic standards; and ability to communicate complex policies and procedures to students, faculty, staff and parents;
Ability to think strategically and lead initiatives that affect and involve multiple college and university stakeholders;
Fostering team work and a team environment;
Previous experience in developing, implementing and overseeing research development activities; and
Familiarity with representing the interests of an administrative unit in discussions and negotiations with faculty, senior administrators, and community constituents.
