Assistant Professor Chemistry & Biochemistry

The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for a position in the broad area of experimental physical and materials chemistry at the assistant professor (tenure track) level. Areas of research complementing our existing strengths in nanomaterials synthesis, characterization and application are particularly encouraged. It is anticipated that the candidate will enhance our existing capabilities by utilizing instruments such as (but not limited to) SEM/TEM, SPM or X-ray based techniques.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will be expected to have a strong commitment to teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, including supervision and mentoring of graduate students. The campus is especially interested in candidates who will have interdisciplinary interactions with the Physics department and with the Baskin School of Engineering. The successful candidate must be able to work with students, faculty and staff from a wide range of social and cultural backgrounds. We are especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the excellence and diversity of the academic community.
