Assistant Professor Agricultural Research CenterThe Columbia Basin Agricultural Research Center (CBARC) invites applications for a full-time (1.00 FTE), 9-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor position with an academic home in the Department of Crop and Soil Science. Salary for an additional two months will be provided in at least the first two years as part of the start up package. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Director.
The Columbia Basin Agricultural Research Center (CBARC), with facilities in Pendleton and Moro, is a branch of the Oregon Agricultural Experiment Station at Oregon State University's (OSU's) College of Agricultural Sciences. The Pendleton station is located on 160 acres of land northeast of Pendleton, Oregon; an additional 35 acres of rented land is used for direct-seed research. Moro Station is located on 230 acres of land near Moro and serves the field research needs of scientists from the OSU campus in Corvallis and the Pendleton Station.
QualificationsPh.D. in weed science, agronomy, plant science, or a closely related field with an emphasis on weed management in production agriculture.
Knowledge of field and laboratory techniques needed to conduct weed management research.
Outstanding record of publishing in refereed journals commensurate with career level.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and cooperatively within a team as an effective team member; work and communicate with colleagues.
Demonstrated scientific writing and technical presentation skills.
Demonstrated potential to obtain extramural funding for program operations, development and enhancement.
Ability and interest in developing and delivering educational materials to all segments of the agricultural community and to diverse audiences.
