Dean, Graduate Studies

Reporting to and working closely with the Dean, Graduate Studies and Graduate Program Directors, the incumbent supports all aspects of planning, implementing, and administering graduate programs, and ensures integration with undergraduate programs and University practices by working in close consultation with the Vice-President Academic, the other Deans and Associate Deans, and the Associate Vice-President, Students.

Qualifications

Strong leadership and administrative skills and an understanding of current issues in graduate and undergraduate education in art, design, media and technology;
PhD, preferred, or terminal Master’s degree in a relevant field;
A minimum of five years’ experience teaching at the post-secondary level, including graduate teaching, an excellent record of professional/scholarly activity and previous experience in academic administration;
Excellent oral and written communication skills;
Demonstrated initiative, and the ability to manage competing demands and meet deadlines;
Well-developed conflict resolution skills, and a track record of success with collaborative work;
Demonstrated sensitivity to the diverse needs of students and faculty, with student academic counseling experience an asset.
